Wave Makers is an interactive learning game designed for children and adults of different abilities.
Instead of moving a boat directly, players choose the direction of gentle waves. Each wave moves the boat one space across the water.
The game encourages spatial awareness, planning, direction recognition, problem-solving and decision-making.
Players can use a mouse, touchscreen or keyboard. Optional sound, animation and time limits allow the experience to be adjusted to individual preferences.

Create Your Waves
Choose a direction to send a gentle wave that moves your boat one space.
Keyboard players can use the arrow keys when the game is active and the game controls have focus.
How to Play Wave Makers
- Choose Easy, Medium or Challenge difficulty.
- Select one of the three ocean courses.
- Choose a timer or No Timer.
- Press Start Wave Makers.
- Find your boat on the water course.
- Use the directional buttons to create waves.
- Guide your boat around the rocks.
- Collect golden stars for extra points.
- Reach the finish line to complete the course.
Accessible Game Controls
- Use a mouse or touchscreen to create waves.
- Use Tab to reach the directional controls.
- Press Enter or Space to activate a direction.
- Use the arrow keys when a wave control has focus.
- Choose No Timer for relaxed play.
- Turn animation off if movement is distracting.
- Sound effects can be enabled or disabled.
- There is no penalty for touching a rock.

Accessible Floating Boat Challenge
Place a lightweight, pool-approved floating boat in a suitable activity area. Participants create gentle waves using comfortable hand or supported arm movements to move the boat towards a finish marker.
Players can work with a support person, direct a partner or use adapted equipment.
Activities should take place with appropriate supervision and individual safety arrangements. Avoid forceful splashing and keep water away from faces.
