Our Use of Artificial Intelligence
Inclusive Education NZ believes it is important to be open about how our stories, educational materials and digital resources are developed.
Some content, illustrations and resources published by Inclusive Education NZ are developed with the assistance of artificial intelligence (AI) tools.
We use AI as one of the creative and production tools that can assist us in developing accessible, engaging and inclusive resources for children, families, teachers and schools.
How AI May Be Used
Different resources may involve AI in different ways. Depending on the project, AI tools may assist with parts of the creative, editorial or production process.
Writing & Editing
AI may assist with brainstorming, drafting, rewriting, editing, structuring or improving written content.
Illustrations & Images
Some illustrations or visual elements may be created or developed with the assistance of AI image-generation tools.
Audio & Digital Media
AI and other digital technologies may assist with narration, audio production or the creation of digital learning materials.
Ideas & Resource Development
AI may be used to explore ideas, develop concepts and help turn an educational idea into a practical resource.
Human Review and Responsibility
Artificial intelligence can produce useful ideas and creative material, but it can also make mistakes, misunderstand context or produce information that requires correction.
Content developed with AI assistance is therefore not automatically published simply because an AI system produced it.
We select, develop, review and edit resources before deciding what is appropriate for publication through Inclusive Education NZ.
Children with Disability NZ remains responsible for the content it chooses to publish through this project.
Not Every Resource Is Created in the Same Way
Inclusive Education NZ contains different types of resources, including children's stories, flipbooks, audiobooks, printable PDFs, disability awareness resources and sensory learning materials.
The role of AI may therefore vary between resources. A resource may include AI-assisted writing, an AI-assisted illustration, digital narration or another form of AI-supported production.
Other elements may be created, written, edited or developed directly by people involved with the project.
Why We Use These Tools
Our purpose is not to use technology simply because it is available. We use technology where it can help us develop useful and engaging resources.
Inclusive Education NZ aims to create materials that help children encounter disability, neurodiversity and difference as an ordinary part of everyday life.
AI gives a small organisation access to additional creative and production capabilities that can help us turn ideas into stories, illustrations, audio and educational resources.
Accuracy and Limitations
We make reasonable efforts to review the resources we publish. However, no educational resource or technology is completely free from the possibility of errors.
AI-assisted material may contain inaccuracies, oversimplifications or limitations. If you believe you have identified an error or something that should be reviewed, we welcome feedback.
