Look • Think • Choose • LearnWelcome, Emotion Explorer!
Our faces can sometimes give clues about our feelings. But we cannot always know how someone feels just by looking at them.
In these activities, you can practise recognising expressions, thinking about emotions and matching faces with words.
😊 Guess the Feeling
Look at the face. Which feeling does it most closely show? Choose your answer.
What feeling might this face show?
Wonderful Exploring!
Remember: a face can give us clues, but asking someone how they feel is often the best way to know.
💭 How Would You Feel?
Read each situation and choose how you might feel. There are no wrong answers: different people can feel differently about the same experience.
Every Feeling Matters!
You explored six situations. People can experience many different feelings, and every feeling deserves respect.
🧩 Match the Faces
Find the matching pairs. First select a face, then select the word that describes its expression. You can also select the word first.
You Matched Every Pair!
Great work exploring facial expressions and feeling words!
💚 Feelings and Communication
People show their feelings in many different ways. Some use facial expressions, some use NZSL, spoken words, written messages, pictures or other communication methods.
Not everyone shows the same expression for the same feeling. We should never assume that we know exactly how someone feels just by looking.
Being kind, asking respectfully and listening to each person's preferred way of communicating helps everyone feel included.
