Wheelchair Games Hub – Inclusive Learning Games

Learn Together. Play Together. Compete Together.

Welcome to the Wheelchair Games Hub at Inclusive Education NZ, where learning, imagination and friendly competition come together in a collection of wheelchair-themed educational games.

Our goal is to create games where children who use wheelchairs and children who do not use wheelchairs can play, learn and compete together on equal terms.

Different abilities. Equal opportunities. Everyone belongs.

Inclusive Wheelchair Games for Home and School

Learning should be enjoyable, challenging and accessible to everyone.

Our Wheelchair Games Hub brings together educational activities inspired by wheelchair sports, adventures, puzzles and everyday experiences.

Children can practise maths, spelling, reading, problem-solving and logical thinking while exploring colourful virtual environments and competing in friendly challenges.

Whether you are a teacher planning classroom activities, a parent supporting learning at home, or a child looking for a new challenge, this hub offers free games to explore.

How Our Inclusive Educational Games Work

Learn Through Play

Educational questions and puzzles become part of exciting games, encouraging children to practise important learning skills.

Play Alone or Together

The games offer individual learning, two-player challenges or computer opponents, depending on the activity. Children can also work together to solve questions.

Wheelchair Characters and Adventures

Wheelchair characters take centre stage in races, mazes, treasure hunts, basketball challenges and adventures. Everyone is welcome to play.

Celebrate Every Achievement

Progress, encouragement and rewards help learners develop confidence while enjoying friendly competition.

Accessibility and Inclusive Game Design

Accessibility is central to the development of our Wheelchair Games Hub.

Our aim is to design games that can be enjoyed by children with different physical, sensory, communication and learning needs.

Our Game Design Priorities

  • Large, easy-to-use buttons and controls.
  • Keyboard and touch-screen accessibility.
  • Clear instructions and readable text.
  • Optional sound and spoken questions where practical.
  • Reduced-motion options and alternatives to unnecessary animation.
  • Adjustable learning difficulty.
  • Untimed learning options wherever possible.
  • Fair competition without disability-based advantages or disadvantages.

These are our ongoing design priorities. Individual games will continue to be tested and improved to support different learners.

Why Inclusive Wheelchair Games Matter

Too often, children with disabilities are left out of games, sports and activities because those experiences were not designed with everyone in mind.

Our Wheelchair Games Hub takes a different approach.

Wheelchair users are not simply included as an afterthought. They are central characters in the games and adventures.

By allowing children with and without disabilities to enjoy the same challenges, we hope to encourage understanding, friendship, confidence and a greater appreciation of human diversity.

Our message is simple: Inclusion means everyone has the opportunity to participate, contribute and succeed.
